ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Coastal Carolina track & field alumna Amber Campbell won the weight throw with a mark of 24.78 meters (81-3.75) at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 25.
Campbell set a new meet record with her throw of 24.78 meters, breaking her previous record of 24.70 (81-0.50) that was set in 2010.
Brittany Riley took second place in the event with a mark of 23.88 meters (78-4.24) and Gwendolyn Berry was third with a throw of 22.80 meters (74-9.75).
Campbell, who continues to serve as a volunteer assistant track & field coach at Coastal, will open up the outdoor season at the Amber Campbell Hammer Invitational that is held in conjunction with the CCU/Shamrock Invitational. The meet runs from Thursday, March 15 through Saturday, March 17 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
