Women's Track & Field Wraps Up Day One of Clemson Invitational; Sistrunk Shines
CLEMSON, S.C.- The Coastal Carolina University women's track and field team concluded day one of the 2009 Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational Feb. 13 that saw several outstanding performances.
Most notably, senior LeAuna Sisturnk (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mason)(Alabama)) tied her own Coastal Carolina and Big South record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.47. The time, which was less than a tenth of a second off of an NCAA provisional qualifying time, was good enough to earn her the top collegiate finish in the race. She followed up her performance in the 60-meter dash with a personal-best 7.79 to place 10th.
Also excelling was freshman Mia Wyszynski (Berlin, Germany/Wilma Rudolph(Bremen)), who won the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:05.9. Another distance runner, freshman Christian Johnson (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights), took eighth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:19.21.
Lastly, freshman Darrialle Henley (Spatranburg, S.C./Spartanburg) finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.64.
The Chanticleers will return to action Saturday, Feb. 14 at beginning with the weight throw.
