Women's Track and Field Concludes Joe Hilton Carolina Fast Times Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University’s women’s track and field team participated in the Joe Hilton Carolina Fast Times Invitational April 10, in Chapel Hill, N.C., picking up 10 top-10 finishes.
In the final event of the night, Coastal took 1-2-3 in the discus as Connor won the event with a 138’2.66” (42.13m) throw. Tenasia White took second while Anjulia Nicholson placed third with 133’3.21” (40.62m) and 125’ (38.10m), respectively.
Deborah Mattern led the javelin throwers with a second place finish and a 135’10” (39.87m) mark. Caitlin Lupo finished right behind in third after throwing 130’7” (39.80m) while Bridget Garrity came in seventh with a 110’5” (33.67m) mark.
In the shot put, Brittany Connor finished third overall with a 41’7” (12.82m) throw.
Melissa Arango earned a top-10 finish in the 100-meter hurdles, placing sixth with a time of 14.68.
Shelby Donahue had a good showing in the 1,500 meter with a season-best time of 4:44.03, which puts her in fourth place in the Big South top-10 rankings.
The Chanticleers will be back in action at the Big South Outdoor Championship April 15-17 at Charleston Southern. Coastal is looking to win its third consecutive Big South Championship after winning five titles in the last six years.
