The Coastal Carolina University women’s track and field team did double duties this weekend, participating at the Winthrop Asics Invitational on Thursday, March 25 and Friday, March 26 in Rock Hill, S.C., before participating in the Weems Baskin Relays in Columbia, S.C on Saturday, March 27.

 

Ikeiylah Brown took first place in the preliminaries of the 100 and 200-meter dash and she ran 11.83 in the 100 meter and 24.24 in the 200 meters. Darielle Henley finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.91, and ran 25.14 in the 200-meter dash, taking sixth place. Kierra Gabe finished at 26.38 in the 200 meter dash to place 13th.

 

In the heptathlon, Mikaela Terry earned a personal-best 3564 points, taking eighth place in the event and teammate Jenna Kazmierczak participated in her first heptathlon, gathering 3156 points for 12th place.

 

In the Weems Baskin Relays, the Chanticleers were successful in the field events as Caitlin Lupo came in second with a throw of 120'2" (37.62 meters) in the javelin throw. Teammate Bridget Garrity finished fifth with a mark of 117'3" (35.74 meters). In the high jump, Kierra Gabe jumped 5'3" (1.60 meters), taking fifth in the event.  

 

Christian Johnson placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.32, while Peggy Busby finished in tenth at 2:24.97. Joyce Curtain placed third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:52.47, and Kathryn Zenowitz came in seventh with a time of 13:12.71.

 

The Chanticleers will partake in the Pepsi Florida Relays and the Duke Asics Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 2-3.
