Women's Track and Field Concludes Day One of CCU Invitational

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women’s track and field team finished day one of the Coastal Carolina Invitational with solid performances from its throwers. Deborah Mattern was the top Chanticleer in the javelin, throwing 135’8” (44.68m) to win the event. Caitlin Lupo finished second with a 128’7” (39.19m) throw and Bridget Garrity was close behind in sixth with a 120’4” (36.68m) mark. Jenna Kazmierczak rounded out the pack, finishing 25th. In the hammer throw, Brittany Connor took second with a 166’7” (50.77m) mark while Anjulia Nicholson and Tenasia White finished 11th and 25th, respectively. In the track events, Rindi Wood and Kathryn Zenowitz were the only Chants to participate on Friday, finishing 28th and 34th in the 3,000 meters. The Chanticleers conclude the CCU Invitational tomorrow at the Coastal Carolina Track and Field Complex with the day’s events slated to start at 9 a.m. |
