CLEMSON, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University women's indoor track and field team finished day one of the Tiger Paw Invitational, hosted by Clemson University with nine top 10 finishes on Friday, Feb. 11.
In the 300 meters, junior Santresa Jamison placed fourth with a time of 40.43 and teammate Vondeeshia Humphries was close behind in 11th, crossing the finish line in 41.24.
The Chants had a good showing in the 60 meters with Darriale Henley, Erica Peake and London Smalls all qualifying for the finals, but elected not to run. Henley and Peake tied for 10th with a time of 7.66 and had season bests while Smalls recorded a time of 7.71 for a new personal best.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Ashley Davis had a personal best, placing 16th in the semifinals with a time of 8.78 and qualified for the finals, but elected not to run.
Samantha Simile ran the 500 meters in 1:21.87 to finish ninth overall.
In the field events, Kierra Gabe was the top finisher in the high jump with a 5'5" (1.65m) mark. Kandisa Allicock and Kara Gajoch tied for seventh with a jump of 5'3" (1.60m).
In the long jump, Henley finished fourth with a 18'7" (5.66m) mark while Peake placed 11th after leaping 17'9" (5.41m).
Anjulia Nicholson recorded a new personal best in the weight throw, finishing eighth overall after throwing 49'6.50" (15.10m).
Coastal Carolina returns to the track tomorrow for the final day of competition. The meet is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
