Track & Field Has Strong Showing in Day One of Tiger Paw Invitational

11 top-10 performances posted on the first day of events

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's track & field team concluded the first day of the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., on Friday, Feb. 10 with 11 top-10 performances.

Ashley Davis had one of the Chanticleers' best performances of the day, as she came in third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.68. Camille Hurley ran the race in 8.90 to take eighth place.

Earning a fourth-place finish in the high jump was Kierra Gabe, who cleared 1.65 meters (5-5).

Sophie Perry continues to perform well in the one mile as she finished in fourth place with a time of 5:01.91. Shelby Nicosia completed the race in 5:06.32 to take eighth overall.

During the finals of the 60-meter dash Erica Peake recorded a career best time of 7.57 to post a fifth-place showing. Darriale Henley finished with a season best time of 7.62 to grab 10th place.

Henley also posted an eighth-place showing in the long jump following a mark of 5.44 meters (17-10.25).

Santresa Jamison earned another top-10 performance for the Chanticleers in the 300 meters, as she completed the event in 40.86 to take fifth place. Sharmaine Barnes was ninth overall in the race following a time of 41.64.

In the women's weight throw Shantelle Patterson recorded a mark of 16.42 meters (53-10) to finish in seventh.

The Tiger Paw Invitational will resume on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. with the distance medley relay and the pole vault.
