COLLEGE STATION, PA. - The Coastal Carolina women’s indoor track & field team finished ninth out of 16 teams at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup at Penn State University.

Erica Peake, Qwontajah Thompson, Santresa Jamison and Sharmaine Barnes set a new school record in the 4x400 meter relay, as they recorded a time of 3:48.42 to take sixth place in the event. The 4x400 meter relay team beat the previous school record of 3:49.10 that was set in 2006.

Peake had a strong showing at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup, recording a second place finish in the 200 meters, completing the race in 24.43. She also posted a time of 7.57 in the 60-meter hurdles tying Jordan Simmons from James Madison for a second place showing.

Finishing in fourth in the 5,000-meter run was Letitia Saayman, who ran the race in 17:20.31. Mary Lawrence cleared 3.70 meters (12-01.50) to tie for fifth in the pole vault.

Kierra Gabe cleared 1.65 meters (5-05.00) in the high jump to finish seventh overall. Gabe also tied for seventh in the long jump after recording a mark of 5.45 meters (17-10.75).

Sophie Perry posted her best time of the season in the mile after completing the race in 4:59.86 to take eighth place.

During the 400-meter dash, Santresa Jamison came in ninth place following a time of 56.79.

The Chanticleers will next compete in the Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11 in Clemson, S.C.
