Women's Track & Field Conclude Day One of Carolina Classic, Day Two Canceled

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women’s indoor track and field team was forced to conclude the Dick Taylor Carolina Classic early due to the threat of inclement weather in North Carolina, but had a good showing despite the second day of the meet being canceled.

The Chanticleers captured two top-10 finishes on Day One, both in the mile run. Shelby Donahue took third with a time of 5:13.51 and was Coastal’s top finisher. Christian Johnson was not far behind in eighth, crossing the finish line at 5:18.18 and Peggy Busbee rounded out the mile run with a time of 5:49.49.

Robin Callan finished 11th in weight throw with a 45’7.75” (13.91m) mark, while Anjulia Nicholson placed 17th after a 40’8.75” (12.41m) throw, a personal best.

In the 60-meter hurdles, the Chanticleers ran two with Estefania Ramirez finishing 21st with a time of 9.58 and Shanace Isaac finishing close behind at 23rd, crossing the finish line at 9.60. Crystal Robinson and Isaac both competed in the 60-meter dash, finishing with times of 8.17 and 8.61, respectively.

The Chanticleers return to the track on February 5-6 at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup hosted by Penn State.
