Women's Indoor Track Close Day One of Virginia Tech Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Coastal Carolina University women's indoor track and field team closed the first day of the Virginia Tech Invitational with four top-20 finishes on Friday, January 14.
Shantelle Patterson was the top performer for the Chanticleers in the weight throw, finishing ninth with a 49'8.06" (15.14m) throw.
In the running events, Coastal had two athletes finish in the top-20 in the 60-meter hurdles with Ashley Davis crossing the line in 12th with a time of 8.96 and Sierrah Oates in 15th with a 9.01 mark. Melissa Arango and Felicia Aiken finished the event with a time of 9.49 and 9.92, respectively.
Christian Johnson was the lone competitor in the one mile, placing 21st with a time of 5:29.84.
The Chanticleers had a good showing in the 60-meter dash with London Smalls recording a 7.89 in the event and Gabrielle Lee crossing the line in 7.97.
In the 500 meters, Estefania Ramirez was the top Chant with a time of 1:24.67 while Jenna Kazmierczack was close behind in 1:28.54. Samantha Simile rounded out the pack with a time of 1:29.87.
Vondeeshia Humphries finished 25th in the 300 meters with a 41.55 mark.
The Chanticleers wrap up the Virginia Tech Invitational tomorrow with the first event scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
