CONWAY - Members of the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team spent a couple hours last week giving back to the community by volunteering their time at The Shepherd's Table in Conway.
The team, along with head coach Catherine Hewitt, was at The Shepherd’s Table for over two hours last Monday evening preparing for the meal, helping to serve the food and cleaning up once the meal was over.
“Our volunteering gives the student-athletes an opportunity to give back and see the bigger picture in life,” said Hewitt. “Volunteering is what makes a community; it brings people together. Also, when we donate our time, our student-athletes are able to give hope to someone who needs it. We thoroughly enjoyed it and are set to be on the rotation to serve at The Shepherd’s Table just about every month for the rest of the year.”
The Shepherd’s Table is a non-profit organization that provides meals to those individuals in need in the Conway area every week-day from 4:30-6 p.m. The organization serves a free dinner to anyone who walks through doors, no questions asked. Every person who comes to The Shepherd’s Table is welcomed without regard to employment, race, sex, age, national origin religious preference, handicap or income.
