Women's Tennis Wraps Up Fall Season at UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team wrapped up its fall season competing at the UNC Wilmington Fall Tennis Invitational, Nov. 2-4. Senior Amy Pazahanick (Canton, Georgia/Brookwood (Georgia Southern)) finished runner-up in Flight A Singles, while freshman Laurel Bolesky (Lexington, Ohio/Lexington) finished third. Pazahanick, Bolesky and sophomore Kimberly Webb (Usk, Wales/Millfield School) each posted a 3-1 record in Flight A Singles.  

 

Pazahanick rolled off three straight wins to advance to the Flight A Singles finals. Pazahanick picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win against North Carolina Central’s Ashley Rogers, a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Madeline Hakansson (Kennesaw State) and a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over teammate Webb, before falling  to Ale Guerra (UNC Greensboro)  6-2, 6-2 in the finals.  

 

Bolesky also picked up three wins in Flight A Singles with two over opponents from Radford. Bolesky fell to Guerra in the semifinal round, 6-2, 6-2, but rebounded with a 7-6 (1), 6-1 victory over Camila Noldin (Radford) for a thirdplace finish.

 

Webb picked up wins over Valerie Behr (UNCG) 4-6, 6-4, 10-2 and Priscilla Roberts (UNCW) 6-4, 6-0, before falling to Pazahanick. Webb earned a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Leslie Smith (UNC Asheville) in the consolation round.

 

In Flight B Singles action senior Sofie Ahlberg (Stockholm,Sweden/Adalsskolan) downed Ashton Downs (Radford) 6-4, 6-2 before falling to Erica Zabkar (UNCG) 6-3, 6-2. Ahlberg notched two wins in the consolation round.

 

In Flight A Doubles action the team of Bolesky and Pazahanick went 2-1 with wins over Radford (8-6) and UNCG (8-5). The team of Ahlberg and Webb also went 2-1 with scoring victories over UNCW (8-6) and Radford (8-5).
