The Coastal Carolina University women’s tennis team finished its fall schedule at the ITA Southeast Region Championships in WInston-Salem, N.C.

Senior Marie Matrka (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) was in the main draw that featured 64 players. She fell in the first round to Jenny Zika of Duke 6-2, 6-0. Sophomore Sarize Coetzee (Bloemfontein, South Africa/Texas Tech)played in the qualifying bracket, falling to Kathy Robey of Charlotte 6-4, 6-0.

In doubles play, Matrka and Coetzee fell to East Carolina’s Kirsten Buchanan and Mireia Gol 8-3.

Coastal opens the spring schedule Saturday, Jan. 29, with a home match against Gardner-Webb beginning at 11 a.m.
