CHARLESTON, S.C. – Miki Bunea finished runner-up in singles of the A1 flight and Laurel Bolesky and Kourtney Kowal finished runners-up in the doubles match of the A2 flight Sunday afternoon at the College of Charleston Invitational from the College of Charleston Tennis Center.
Bunea reached the finals on Sunday after winning three straight matches and claiming every set along the way. She faced Christin Newman of the College of Charleston for the title, but was unable to keep her weekend winning streak alive. Bunea was defeated by Newman 7-6, 6-1 en route to a second place showing.
Bolesky and Kowal finished as the runners-up in the finals of the doubles match in the A2 flight after dropping an 8-3 decision to Kinsey Casey and Keely Mulligan of the College of Charleston. The Chanticleer duo won their previous two matches of the weekend to reach the finals.
Bolesky also finished in seventh place in singles in the A1 flight after falling to Taylor Morgan of Samford. Along the way, Bolesky defeated Stephanie Synn of Davidson and Jordan Johnston of Elon.
Kowal placed sixth in singles in the B1 flight despite dropping a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Samantha Galainena of Davidson. Kowal defeated Katie Lee of the College of Charleston 6-2, 7-5 in her opening match and later beat Kristin Lewis of Samford 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.
