Women's Tennis Opened Fall Season at UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team opened its fall season at UNC Wilmington last weekend, Sept. 15-17, competing in the sixth annual UNCW Intercollegiate Tournament. Seven teams participated over the weekend and players from each school were put into individual draws.

The Lady Chanticleers went 27-11 on the weekend with two flight winners; Freshman Kim Webb won all four of her matches to win the "C" flight draw. Webb and Sofie Ahlberg won the "C" flight doubles draw. Each of the CCU players won at least two matches on the weekend.

"This was a good start for us this fall, we had some solid performances," Head Coach Jody Davis said. "It was good to get out and play against other schools. Our goal is to continue to improve our performances and hopefully work on some things in practice that we can carry over to the matches."

The Lady Chants will continue their fall competition at the N.C.State Fall Invitational Sept. 29 through Oct.1.
