Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at the Cougar Fall Invitational

 

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The CoastalCarolinaUniversity women’s tennis team opened its fall season this past weekend at the Cougar Fall Tennis Tournament Sept. 14-16 in Charleston, S.C. Senior Amy Pazahanick was Coastal’s top finisher, earning the runner-up spot in Flight B.   Pazahanick started with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Lea Cantanzano of High Point, then won a three-set battle with Amanda Becker of the College of Charleston 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. In the semifinals, Pazahanick lost the first set to Andrea Schutte of Charleston Southern 4-6, but came back to win the final two sets 6-4, 7-5. She then lost in the finals to CofC’s Anna Lee Evans 6-3, 6-0.   Maria Camberos finished in third place in Flight C singles, defeating Sarah Schwarz of the College of Charleston 6-3, 6-4. She also had a win over Charleston Southern’s Ashley Heard 6-2, 6-3. In Flight A singles, Laurel Bolesky beat Keely Mulligan of the College of Charleston, but fell in a three-set thriller to Georgia Tech’s Courtney Olson 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (6).    Coastal’s doubles team of Pazahanick and Bolesky had a 1-1 record in Flight A doubles, defeating North Florida’s Vanessa Sanchez and Victoria Krook.
