CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina's women's tennis' Miki Bunea was named the Big South Choice Hotels Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, announced today (April 20) by the Conference office. This is her first weekly honor of the year and the second for a Coastal women's tennis player, as Mary Hill was named Freshman of the Week March 2.

Bunea, a sophomore from Bucharest, Romania, was a perfect combined 4-0 last week, helping the Chanticleers win a pair of Conference matches and secure the No. 3 seed for the upcoming Big South Women’s Tennis Championship.  Playing at the No. 2 singles, Bunea defeated Presbyterian College’s Olivia McMillan in straight sets and then rallied on the road at Gardner-Webb with a three-set win over Ioana Oprea, 0-6, 6-3, 10-5.  Pairing with Lexi Bolesky at No. 1 doubles, the duo posted two 8-6 victories against PC and Gardner-Webb as part of the team victories. 

The Chanticleers will open the 2010 Big South Conference Women's Tennis Championships Thursday, April 22 in Radford, Va., taking on No. 6-seed Gardner-Webb at 3 p.m.
