CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina University's women's tennis team has been named the No. 3 seed for the upcoming 2010 Big South Conference Women's Tennis Championships. The three-day tournament begins Thursday, April 22 in Radford, Va.
Charleston Southern captured the Big South regular-season title and the No. 1 seed by finishing the season with a 7-0 League mark and a 16-3 overall record. Winthrop picks up the No. 2 seed with a 6-1 Big South record, while Coastal Carolina earns the No. 3 seed with a 5-2 Conference record. UNC Asheville captures the No. 4 seed with a 4-3 record and Radford receives the No. 5 seed with a 3-4 record. Gardner-Webb, Liberty and Presbyterian College finished in a three-way tie for sixth-place in the standings with 1-6 records. Gardner-Webb receives the No. 6 seed after tiebreaker scenarios, with Liberty earning the No. 7 seed. The Blue Hose are not eligible for the Championship due to their transition to Division I.
The 2010 Big South Women’s Tennis Championship begins Thursday, April 22 with three matches and concludes with the Championship game on Saturday, April 24 at 9:00am. The Big South’s Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
