No. 3 Women's Tennis Sweeps No.6 Radford 4-0 at Big South Tournament
More Information: ROCK HILL, S.C. – No. 3 Coastal Carolina women’s tennis swept No. 6 Radford 4-0 in the first round of the 2008 Big South Conference Women's Tennis Tournament.
The Lady Chanticleers easily took the doubles point as freshman Lexi Bolesky (Lexington, Ohio/Lexington) and senior Amy Pazahanick (Canton, Ga./Brookwood (Georgia Southern)) defeated Camila Noldin and Ashton Downs, 8-3 in the No. 1 spot. Senior Sofie Ahlberg (Stockholm, Sweden/Adalsskolan) and sophomore Kim Webb (Usk, Wales/Millfield) won their match over Mirna Matic and Ally Spector, 8-2 in the No. 3 slot, while the No. 2 doubles went unfinished.
Coastal Carolina swept the match with three victories in singles play. Bolesky topped Paige Lindsley 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 slot while Webb defeated Downs at No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Ahlberg earned the final match point with her 7-5, 6-1 win over Matic. Pazahanick competed in No. 1 singles which went unfinished against Ivana Tomaic. No. 3 and No. 6 singles each went unfinished as well with junior Tina Petkova (Oakville, Ontario, Canada/St.Ignatius (Toronto)) and sophomore Maria Camberos (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Lomar del Real) competing respectively.
The Lady Chants are scheduled to play No. 2 seed Liberty on Friday, April 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the second round of the Big South Tournament. Liberty won this season's previous meeting, 4-3 on Feb. 24 in Myrtle Beach in the first league match of the year for both squads.
