Women's Tennis Falls to UNC Wilmington, 4-3

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women’s tennis squad battled but couldn’t pull out another tight match, falling 4-3 to visiting UNC Wilmington, April 9. With the loss, the Chanticleers fell to 13-5 on the season.

UNCW picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles, with the Chanticleers lone win at No. 3 doubles as Kim Webb and Maria Camberos got back on the winning track with an 8-7 (7-2) victory over Hartley Collins and Lindsay Leblang. The two squads then split the six singles matches, with Coastal Carolina getting victories at No. 1, 5 and 6. Sophomore Lexi Bolesky and freshman Caitlyn Brooksbank got straight set victories at No. 1 and 5, respectively, while Camberos battled back after losing the opening set 6-0 to get a 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Leblang. However, it wasn’t enough as the Seahawks got the wins they needed for a 4-3 victory.

Coastal Carolina will immediately be back in action, heading to Blacksburg, Va. to take on Radford on the indoor courts at Virginia Tech, Fri., April 10 at 7 p.m.
