Women's Tennis Wins Big South Match over Liberty 7-0

The Coastal Carolina University women’s tennis team (13-4, 5-0 Big South) won its eighth straight match with a 7-0 sweep of Liberty University April 2 in Lynchburg, Va.

The Chants kept rolling with five straight set wins in singles. Senior Marie Matrka (Wilmington, Ohio) defeated Jonita Randolph 6-1, 6-3 at number one singles. In the other four singles matches, Liberty won a total of only five games. Freshman Sofie Ahlberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and sophomore Sarize Coetzee (Bloemfontein, South Africa) won by matching 6-0, 6-1 counts.

Coastal took 2-of-3 doubles matches, winning both by 8-0 scores.

Coastal will conclude its roadtrip in Virginia Sunday, April 3, against Radford. The match begins at 11 a.m.
