CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina senior Lexi Bolesky has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women’s Tennis Player of the Week the conference office announced Wednesday.
Bolesky turned in a 3-0 record last week in both singles and doubles playing at the No. 1 position to help lead the Chanticleers to three wins on the court.
Playing alongside teammate Mikaela Kristofersson, Bolesky opened the week by clinching the doubles point with an 8-4 win over Anna Edelman and Yagmure Gone of Binghamton. Bolesky went on to cap the Chants’ 6-1 win over the Bearcats with a 6-4, 7-6 singles win over Edelman.
Bolesky continued her impressive week with an 8-0 doubles win over Brittany Craig and Maria Moreno of West Virginia State. She followed that by defeating Andreea Slusarciuc 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to help Coastal Carolina post a 7-0 shutout victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Coastal Carolina closed the week by improving to 2-0 inside the Big South Conference following a 6-1 win Saturday at UNC Asheville. Bolesky and Kristofersson defeated the Bulldogs’ Stephanie Schon and Zoe Hamel 8-3 in No. 1 doubles before Bolesky followed that with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Britney Cloer at No. 1 singles.
“We are very proud of Lexi and what she has accomplished here at Coastal Carolina,” Chanticleer head coach Jody Davis said. “Being selected as the player of the week in the Big South validates her commitment and loyalty to the team. We hope she can continue to perform well the rest of her senior season.”
The Chanticleers return to action Saturday at 11 a.m. when Coastal Carolina hosts Charlotte from the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
