CONWAY, SC -- Coastal Carolina won the doubles point and then posted wins in five of the six singles matches to defeat visiting Charleston Southern, 6-1, Mar. 24. With their sixth consecutive victory, the Lady Chanticleers are now 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the Big South Conference.
Coastal won the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches, including a clinching 8-5 victory by Marie Matrka and Virginie Dinh over Meryam Tazi and Rebecca Franz. In singles, CCU's Marie Matrka advanced to 12-3 in No. 1 singles with a come-from-behind three-set win over Meryam Tazi, while Coastal's Virginie Dinh is now 12-2 after her straight set win over Rebecca Franzi. Petra Jantti, Sarize Coetzee and Nicole Lemmerer also picked up straight set victories in the team win.
Coastal is next on the courts Wed., Mar. 30 at Campbell for a 2 p.m. match.
