Women's Tennis Falls To Charlotte For First Loss Of The Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina's women's tennis team battled on the road but eventually lost its first match of the season to host Charlotte, 4-3, Saturday, March 18. With the loss, the Lady Chanticleers fell to 15-1 while the 49ers advanced to 6-3, having won six of their last seven matches.

The Lady Chanticleers swept the doubles competition highlighted by senior Petra Jantti (Haukiverkko Espo, Finland/Tapiolan Lukio) and sophomore Amy Pazahanick's (Canton, Ga./Brookwood (Georgia Southern)) 8-3 victory. Senior Virginie Dinh (Maisons Albert, France/Sophia) and junior Hayley Rudman (Johannesburg, South Africa/Northcliff High School (MIssissippi State University)) brought in a win, as did sophomore Sofie Ahlberg (Stockholm,Sweden/Adalsskolan) and junior Sarize Coetzee (Bloemfontein, South Africa/Oranje Meisieskool (Texas Tech)). Pazahanick recorded her 15th singles match of the season, while Coetzee had the only other singles win for the Lady Chants.    

Coastal returns to action Wed., Mar. 22, hosting UNC Wilmington at 2 p.m.
