Women's Tennis Sweeps North Carolina A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team swept North Carolina A&T, 7-0, Friday March 14, in Greensboro, N.C.  The Lady Chanticleers improve to 8-3 on the season.

 The No. 1 doubles team of freshman Lexi Bolesky (Lexington, Ohio/Lexington) and senior Amy Pazahanick (Canton, Ga./Brookwood (Georgia Southern)) bumped their record to 9-1 as they defeated Winnie Quick and Jaymee Jones 8-4.  Sophomore Maria Camberos (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Lomar del Real) and junior Tina Petkova (Oakville, Ontario, Canada/St.Ignatius (Toronto)) earned an 8-2 victory over Christina Ruffin and Terika Palmer in the No. 2 doubles slot.  Rounding out the doubles competition in the No. 3 spot, senior Sofie Ahlberg (Stockholm, Sweden/Adalsskolan) and sophomore Kim Webb (Usk, Wales/Millfield) won the match 8-0 over Danielle McCaskill and Destiny Williams. 

 The Lady Chants were strong in the singles competition.  Pazahanick earned her first victory in No. 1 singles as she defeated Christina Ruffin 6-2, 6-1.  In the No. 2 slot, Webb got a 6-1, 7-6 win over Winnie Quick.  Ahlberg extended her winning streak to nine and earned her first victory in No. 3 singles as she defeated Jaymee Jones.  The No. 4 slot was victorious for Camberos as she defeated Danielle McCaskill 6-3, 6-1.  Petkova and freshman Fernanda Shalders (Victoria-Es, Brazil/Centro Estadual Educado Jovense Adultos De Vitoria) both earned 6-0, 6-0 wins over Terika Palmer and Destiny Williams respectively. 

Coastal will travel to Fort Myers, Fla. Tuesday March 18 for the Fort Myers Collegiate Invite.  They will take on Florida Gulf Coast at 9 a.m. and Ohio State/Drake following at 2 p.m.
