Women's Tennis Defeats UNC Asheville 7-0

Conway S.C. – The Coastal Carolina's women's tennis team defeated the Lady Bulldogs of UNC Asheville 7-0 on Wednesday, Mar. 8, 2007. With the win, the Lady Chanticleers improved to 9-2 on the season.

To open the afternoon match, CCU won the doubles point. Hayley Rudman and Amy Pazahanick defeated Rachel Rhoney and Louise Bottomley 8-1 in the No. 1 spot. Going 8-0 in the No. 2 spot was Coastal's Sarize Coetzee and Sofie Ahlberg over Asheville's Whitney Abbott and Leslie Smith. In the final spot Tina Petkova and Maria Camberos defeated Tania Mateva and Sara Holland with a score of 8-3.

In singles play the Lady Chants went 6-0 and won all matches in two sets. Rudman defeated Smith with an intense 7-5 score in the first set then went on to win the second 6-0. In the No. 2 spot, Pazahanick took down Bottomley going 6-1 and 6-0. Alberg defeated Rhoney 6-1, 6-0 and Webb came out on top against Mateva 6-0, 6-2. In the final two matchups, Petkova beat Abbott 6-1, 6-2 and Camberos defeated Poole and Holland with scores of 6-0 in both sets.

Coastal will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 10 at 10 a.m. at UNC Wilmington in Wilmington, N.C.
