Charlotte, N.C. - Freshman Libby Scott of the Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team was named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. The honor is Scott’s first in her career.

Scott helped the Chanticleers to a 2-1 record last week by going undefeated in both her singles and doubles matches.  She started her week with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 over Alex Bastock of Wright State, and an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. Later in the week, Scott downed Radford’s Taylor Newman in straight sets, and teamed up with Dominique De Wit for an 8-2 win at No. 3.  Scott concluded her week defeating Liberty’s Cameron Richard 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot and recording an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.  This is Scott’s first Player of the Week honor this season.

Wednesday’s match, scheduled as a home meeting against UNC Charlotte, has been canceled. The Chants will return to the court Saturday, March 9 for a 2 p.m. match against Big South Conference opponent Gardner-Webb.
