Women's Tennis Falls to UAB 5-2

The Coastal Carolina University women's tennis team (5-4) fell to the University of Alabama Birmingham 5-2 March 4 in Birmingham, Ala. 

Senior Marie Matrka (Wilmington, Ohio) picked up wins in both singles and doubles.  She defeated Gulsah Esen 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 in number-one singles and teammed with classmate Virginie Dinh (Maisons Albert, France) to defeat Esen and Ornischa Maier-Knapp 9-7.  Coastal's other singles win was by sophomore Sarize Coetzee (Bloemfontein, South Africa), who defeated Jana Wild 6-3, 6-3 at number-five singles.

Coastal will remain in the Magic City, facing Big South Conference foe Birmingham-Southern College March 5, at 11 a.m.
