The Coastal Carolina University women’s tennis team (5-1) defeated Mount Olive College 9-0 and Gardner-Webb University 7-0 Feb. 26 in Mount Olive, N.C.

Against Mount Olive, senior Marie Matrka (Wilmington, Ohio) defeated Lucia Henkle, 6-3, 6-3. Junior Petra Jantti (Haukiverkko Espo, Finland) won her match over Mariana Shimoda 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Sariza Coetzee (Bloemfontein, South Africa) also won 6-1, 6-0 over Samathi Wijesekera. Freshman Sofie Ahlberg (Stockholm, Sweden), sophomore Nicole Lemmerer (Bad Mitterndorf, Austria) and junior Rosemary Younger (Atlanta, Ga.) all won 6-0, 6-0. The Lady Chants also swept all three doubles matches in the win and took all six singles matches against Gardner-Webb to improve to 5-1.

Coastal travels to Raleigh, N.C., to face 70th-ranked North Carolina State Sunday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m.
