Charlotte, N.C. - Honami Yazawa of the Coastal Carolina University women's tennis team has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week, the league announced today. It is the first such honor for Yazawa and the third weekly honor for a member of the women's tennis team this season.

Yazawa notches two singles and two doubles wins last week for the Chanticleers. Playing No. 2 singles, the freshman defeated Angel Bonilla of Savannah State in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, followed by a come-from-behind, three-set win against Julia Paulson of Wofford at No. 3 singles.

Paired with Kourtney Kowal at No. 1 doubles, Yazawa won an 8-1 match at Savannah State and an 8-2 match against Wofford. The Chanticleers won both matches, defeating Savannah State 7-0, and Wofford 6-1.

Yazawa is currently undefeated in both singles and doubles this season. She holds a 6-0 singles record playing primarily at No. 3, and a 5-0 doubles record playing every match at No. 1.

The Chanticleers, currently 7-0, will look to stay undefeated when they travel to UNC Wilmington on Thursday for a 2 p.m. match.
