Women's Tennis Gets Road Win at Gardner-Webb, 5-2

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches to get things rolling en route to a 5-2 victory at Gardner-Webb, Feb. 16. With the victory, the Lady Chanticleers advance to 5-2 on the season.

Coastal posted 8-3 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by the combinations of junior Maria Camberos (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Lomar del Real)/junior Tina Petkova (Oakville, Ontario, Canada/St. Ignatius of Loyola) and sophomore Kim Webb (Usk, Wales/Millfield School)/senior Sofie Ahlberg (Stockholm, Sweden/Adalsskolan), respectively, while getting a win at No. 1 doubles by an 8-6 margin from freshman Lexi Bolesky (Lexington, Ohio/Lexington) and senior Amy Pazahanick (Canton, Georgia/Brookwood (Georgia Southern)).

In singles, the Lady Chants got victories at No. 2, 3, 5 and 6 to get the victory in the dual match. Webb, Ahlberg and Camberos won in straight sets at Nos. 3, 5 and 6, respectively.  Pazahanick went three sets to get a victory at No. 2 singles over Jenny Gomes, 6-4, 0-6, 6-4. Bolesky had to retire at No. 1 singles due to a nagging injury, dropping the match to Laura Kreitt by a score of 6-2, 3-3 ret. Freshman Fernanda Shalders (Victoria-Es, Brazil/Centro Estadual Educado Jovense Adultos De Vitoria) lost at No. 4 in straight sets to Monica Walser. 

CCU is back on the court Sunday, traveling to Clinton, S.C. to take on future Big South Conference school Presbyterian at noon. Coastal Carolina 5, Gardner-Webb 2 Singles competition
