Women's Tennis Still Perfect After 5-2 Victory Over N.C. State

RALEIGH, N.C.— Coastal Carolina University's women's tennis team continued to roll through the early part of the 2002 schedule with a 5-2 victory at North Carolina State on Saturday. The Lady Chanticleers are now 6-0 on the season, while NC State falls to 2-3.

Emma Kidd, the winningest player in CCU tennis history, posted her 105th career win with a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 victory over the Woolfpack's Katrina Gildemeister.

NC State opened the match with an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles as senior co-captains Katrina Gildemeister and Kristin Nicholls defeated Coastal's Kidd and Lara Lendemann. CCU shook off the early loss and grabbed the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Medina Bajamrabasic and Dana Goffin defeated Myrna Bawono and Jennifer Jassawalla (8-3) in the No 2 spot, while Marie Matrka and Stephanie Koot proved to be just a little too much for Loni Worsley and Landis Strader inNo. 3 doubles (8-6).

Lendenmann (No. 4) and Koot (No. 6) each posted three-set singles victories after dropping the first set, while Bajrambasic cruised to a 6-4 and 6-0 straightset victory at No. 2 singles.
