Coastal Falls From Main Draws at ITA Regional

CARY, N.C. - Coastal Carolina’s three singles participants and two doubles teams were eliminated from the main singles and doubles draws at this weekend’s ITA Carolina Regional.

Rylie Cox was the lone Chant to advance past the opening round of the main singles draw, defeating Carol Sigaki of USC Upstate in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. The sophomore then fell to Duke’s Kaitlan McCarthy in the second round.

Iryna Vardanian suffered an opening-round loss to Celia Ruiz of East Carolina, while Sara Bondar was bested by Ingrid Martins of South Carolina.

In doubles, Cox and Vardanian lost their opening match to Elon’s pairing of Alex Koniaev and Olivia Lucas. Bondar and Somer Dalla-Bona advanced past the first round with an 8-7(5) win over App State’s Melissa Machado/Teodora Sevo, but could not overcome North Carolina State’s Adriana Reami/Amanda Rebol in the second.

Coastal finishes its fall schedule in two weekends with the CCU Battle at the Beach, Nov. 3-4 at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
