Elon Fall Classic Day Two Results
ELON, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team completed a successful second day at the Elon Fall Classic on Saturday. Heading into the final day of action on Sunday, Coastal has three of its four doubles team reaching the championship match of their respective flights, while Maria Khomchenko reached the final of the Powell singles flight.
Iryna Vardanian fell 6-0, 6-4 to ETSU's Alory Periera in the flight's quarterfinal.
In the back draws, Rylie Cox defeated Elon's Maria Paraja, 6-3, 6-2.
Sara Bondar advanced to the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against App State's Heidi Swope, but fell short of the final with a straight-sets loss to UNCW's Xandra Fougner.
Jessie Mount fell in straight sets in the quarterfinals to Emory's Defne Olcay.
Khomchenko advanced to the final of the flight, where she will face App State's Taylor Bygrave on Sunday. Khomchenko won 6-4, 6-1 in the quarterfinals, and 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the semifinals against App State's Melissa Mechado.
Brooke Campell lost by retirement in the quarterfinals.
In the back draw, Alexa Tiefel defeated NC Central's Polina Sakharova in straight sets, 6-0, 7-5.
Dalla-Bona and Bondar fell 8-3 in the semifinals to ETSU's Periera/Markensini.
Cox and Vardanian advanced to Sunday's championship match with an 8-2 victory over UNCW's Barisano/Matute in the semifinals.
Mount and Natalie Wall advanced to Sunday's championship with an 8-7 (3) win in the semifinals against Emory's Fuhr/Sundaram
Khomchenko and Campbell advanced to the flight's championship by defaut.
