Elon Fall Classic Day One Results

ELON, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team finished 10-3 overall in nine singles matches and four doubles matches on the opening day of the Elon Fall Classic.

Maroon Flight
Iryna Vardanian was the lone winning for Coastal in the Maroon flight, defeating Emory's Bridget Harding 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Somer Dalla-Bona and Rylie Cox both lost their opening matches in this flight.

Gold Flight
Sara Bondar advanced to quarterfinals by default, and will face Appalachian State's Heidi Swope on Saturday.

Jesse Mount defeated UNCW's Sarah Horn in three sets to advance to the next round.

Powell Flight
Natalie Wall won in three sets over UNCG's Emily Ory, while Maria Khomchenko won in straight sets against NC Central's Jamie Rogers.

Phoenix Flight
Brooke Campell advance to the quarterfinals with a three-set win over Appalachian State's Emily Gaskins.

Alexa Tiefel fell in three sets to Appalachian State's Sandra Anglesjo.

Maroon Doubles
Dalla-Bona and Bondar defeated App State's Sevo/Zacharias 8-2.

Gold Doubles
Cox and Vardanian topped UNCG's Taylor/Ory 8-4.

Powell Doubles
Mount and Wall claimed an 8-3 victory over App State's Anglesjoe/Gaskins.

Phoenix Doubles
Khomchenko and Campbell won their opening-round match 8-6 against Emory's Chang/Vernoff, and later advanced to Sunday's flight final by default.

The second day of action at the Elon Fall Classic will take place on Saturday.
