ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team fell 4-0 to Winthrop in the 2012 Big South Conference Championship at the Asheville Racquet Club South.
The doubles point came down to the No. 1 position with the teams tied at one match a piece. With the match deadlocked, 6-6, the Winthrop tandem of Andressa Garcia and Yasmine Alkema proved to be too much, earning a hard fought 9-7 win to earn the opening point.
Winthrop dropped just five games in the singles winning the first, third and fifth sets en route to its 10th Big South Championship in 11 years.
Coastal finished the season with an 18-6 record while Winthrop improved to 15-10 overall mark.
