CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team shut out the East Carolina Pirates, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.

The Chants swept the Pirates on the doubles side led by seniors Miki Bunea and Diana Mortlock (8-1) followed by the duo of Katie Fosnacht and Mikaela Kristofersson (8-4) and Kourtney Kowal and Maria Hesketh (8-6).

Amanda Malatek opened the singles side with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Abby Richmond backed up by a 6-1, 6-2 win for Fosnacht. Kristofersson sealed the win with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 4 flight. Mortlock (6-4, 6-1), Kowal (5-7, 6-3, 10-3) and Bunea (6-3, 7-6 (5)) completed Coastal's sixth shutout of the year.

"We did a great job of controlling the tempo of the match today and taking care of business," said head coach Catherine Hewitt.

Coastal concludes its regular season with its last conference match tomorrow (Sat.) against UNC Asheville at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center with first serve set for 2 p.m. Bunea and Mortlock will be honored on Saturday as a part of Senior Day.
