ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team won its third straight match following its 6-1 win over UNC Asheville Saturday afternoon from the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center.
Coastal Carolina (14-4, 2-0) swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead after claiming the point. Senior Lexi Bolesky and freshman Mikaela Kristofersson downed Stephanie Schon and Zoe Hamel 8-3 at the No. 1 position, while juniors Miki Bunea and Diana Mortlock bested Devon Cavanaugh and Britney Coler 8-5 at No. 2.
Senior Caitlyn Brooksbank and freshman Maria Hesketh posted an 8-3 victory at No. 3 over Nicki Schon and Jackie McGuirk.
In singles, Bolesky turned in a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cloer at the No. 1 position. Bunea defeated Stephanie Schon 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2, while Kristofersson bested Hames 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4.
Mortlock earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Nicki Schon at No. 5 before Hesketh downed McGuirk 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 position.
Coastal Carolina returns to action Sunday at 10 a.m. when the Chanticleers travel to Cullowhee, N.C., to take on Western Carolina from the Catamount Athletic Complex.
