CONWAY - Coastal Carolina blanked the University of Chicago 6-0 Saturday morning at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
The match consisted of six singles matches and no doubles due to impending rain in the forecast.
Coastal won four of the six matches in straight sets beginning with a 6-0, 6-1 win for freshman Katie Fosnacht. Fonsnacht improves to 12-2 on the season having won seven straight singles matches. Mikaela Kristofersson also won 6-0, 6-1 against her opponent followed by a 6-3, 6-2 win from Amanda Malatek.
Diana Mortlock would give Coastal its 12th win of the season with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 win against Jennifer Kung to clinch the match. Kourtney Kowal and Miki Bunea completed the sweep of the Maroons with a pair of victories.
"We were able to bounce back today after a very close loss yesterday," said head coach Catherine Hewitt. "The girls stepped up and didn't let yesterday effect their play. This is a good win over a top 5 Division III school."
Coastal takes to the road on Wednesday, March 28 to face UNC Wilmington. First serve is slated for 2:30 p.m. at the UNCW Tennis Complex.
