Greenville, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team lost its fourth straight away match, falling 5-2 at East Carolina on Friday afternoon.
With the loss, the Chanticleers now own an 8-7 record, while East Carolina improves to 10-5.
The Chants were unable to capture the doubles point as East Carolina received wins from the No. 1 pair of Nicole LaDuca and Neena Wanka and the No. 2 pair of Melis Tanik and Yilian Zhang.
Coastal’s No. 3 pair of Dominique De Wit and Libby Scott proved to be victorious in the final doubles match, winning 8-4 over Dana Grey and Danielle Terpko.
In singles action, Libby Scott won her fifth straight match at No. 1, downing Neena Wanko in a three set contest, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2. Alicia Robinson, playing at No. 5, also picked up a point for the Chants, winning out over Nicole LaDuca of East Carolina 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
East Carolina would claim the four remaining points as Tanik, Zhang, Terpko and Abby Richmond all won their respective matches.
The Chants have a short turnaround before their next match on Saturday. Coastal will host non-conference opponent Albany for a 2 p.m. match.
