COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss at #21 South Carolina on Sunday.

Coastal falls to 12-3 overall with the loss, and had its season-long seven-match winning streak snapped.

South Carolina opened the match with wins on the first and second doubles courts to secure the opening point, and followed with three straight singles wins on courts three, four and five.

Hadley Berg/Paige Cline was the winning pair on the top court, while Silvia Chinellato/Caroline Dailey won the second half of the point on the second court.

Chinellato, Berg and Brigit Folland captured South Carolina's singles points in straight sets.

"Today was a great experience playing a top 25 team," said Catherine Hewitt. "We were very pleased with their effort and heart, and we're headed in the right direction going into our first conference matches next weekend."

Next up, Coastal makes its Sun Belt Conference debut as the Chants take on Appalachian State in Statesboro, Ga. on March 25. The match is followed by another league contest against Troy on March 26, also in Statesboro.
