Women's Tennis Defeats Bradley For Fourth Straight Win

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team secured its fourth straight win Wednesday afternoon with a 7-0 shutout of Bradley.

Coastal Carolina (11-3) swept all three doubles matches and led 1-0 after earning the point.  Freshman Maria Hesketh and sophomore Amanda Malatek opened the match with an 8-1 win at No. 3 over Briggitte Graf and Ashley Roth before juniors Miki Bunea and Diana Mortlock clinched the point with an 8-3 victory over Nicole Miller and Adele Henke at No. 1. 

Senior Caitlyn Brooksbank and freshman Dominique De Wit completed the sweep with an 8-4 win at No. 2 over Sarah Rodefeld and Meredith McDonagh. 

Brooksbank put the Chants ahead 2-0 following her 6-2, 6-0 win over Roth at No. 5 singles, while De Wit upped the lead to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Graf at No. 6. 

Malatek clinched the match at No. 4 after besting McDonagh 6-1, 6-0.  Mortlock earned a 4-6, 6-0, 10-4 win over Rodefeld at No. 2 before Hesketh defeated Henke 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3. 

Bunea complete the sweep at No. 1 when she downed Miller 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1.

“This was our third match in 30 hours and it was great for us to see how we would hold up in the heat with tired legs,” Coastal Carolina head coach Jody Davis said.  “It will be good to take a day off and get ready for a very good Florida Atlantic team on Friday”.
