MORGANTOWN, W.VA. -- The Coastal Carolina University women's tennis team couldn't not get enough singles wins and lost 4-3 at West Virginia, Tuesday, March 16. With the loss, the Chanticleers fell to 11-3 on the season, while the Mountaineers moved to 12-2.

The Chanticleers took the doubles point, getting two of the three victories. The first Coastal point came at No. 3, where seniors Kim Webb and Maria Camberos defeated Liv Pettersson and Ashley Pilsbury, 8-6. WVU took the No. 2 match, but at No. 1, junior Lexi Bolesky and sophomore Miki Bunea battled to defeat Stephanie LaFortune and Monique Burton in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (8-6), to earn the first team point of the match.

In singles, Coastal picked up two straight-set victories while West Virginia won three in straights to knot the match at three. The Chanticleers' victories came at No. 1 and 2, with Bolesky defeating LaFortune, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 and Bunea winning over Burton at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2. WVU got its two-set wins at No. 3, 4 and 6, making the match come down to No. 5. There, Coastal freshman Mary Hill battled but eventually fell to WVU's Kathryn Haught, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

"We came up to get some experience indoors on this (three-match) trip," Head Coach Jody Davis. "We found some things we need to work on, but I was pleased overall with our effort. We had some very close matches that could have gone either way.

The Chants return to the court for competition on Tuesday, March 23, traveling to Buies Creek, N.C. to take on Campbell at 2:30 p.m.
