CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University women's tennis team continued its dominance at home with a 7-0 Big South Conference victory over visting Radford, March 7. With their eighth-straight home win, the Chanticleers moved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the Big South, while the Highlanders fell to 2-3 and 0-1 in the league.
Coastal swept all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. Junior Lexi Bolesky and sophomore Miki Bunea had a solid 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles over RU's Ivana Tomaic and Mirna Matic. Seniors Kim Webb and Maria Camberos picked up an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles over Petra Dajevic and Emerald Lauzon to seal the point. At No. 2, senior Paty Cortes and freshman Mary Hill earned an 8-4 victory over Mia Drobniak and Sara Tegner.
The Chanticleers won all six singles matches, taking five of them in straight sets. At No. 3, Webb battled back after losing the first set to earn a tough 4-6, 7-6 (6), 11-9 victory over Dajevic.
"It's great to get off to a good start in the conference," Head Coach Jody Davis said. "We had some good performances and Kim Webb really hung tough today to come back and win her match. It was great to see all of our players fight hard."
The Chanticleers return to the court Wednesday, March 10 at 2 p.m., hosting UNC Greensboro to wrap up a four-match homestand.
