CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team won its third straight match following a 6-1 victory over Chattanooga Saturday afternoon from the UTC Tennis Center. 

The Chanticleers grabbed a 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point after sweeping all three matches.  Freshman Mikaela Kristofersson and senior Lexi Bolesky posted an 8-0 shutout over Alexa Flynn and Emily Hangstefer at No. 1 before juniors Miki Bunea and Diana Mortlock clinched the point with an 8-4 triumph over Jenna Nurik and Shaina Singh at No. 2. 

Senior Caitlyn Brooksbank and freshman Kourtney Kowal completed the sweep for the Chanticleers with an 8-7 (7-5) win over Grace Robinette and Annie Green at the No. 3 position. 

Flynn pulled Chattanooga even with Coastal Carolina after defeating Kowal 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles to make the score 1-1.  The Chanticleers, however, won the next five matches en route to the victory.  Mortlock put Coastal ahead 2-1 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Robinette at No. 5, while Kristofersson upped the lead to 3-1 following a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Singh at No. 4.

Bolesky clinched the match for the Chants with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Nurik at No. 1.  Bunea turned in a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Hangstefer at No. 2, while freshman Maria Hesketh capped the match with a 6-7 (10-5), 6-3, 1-0 win at No. 6 over Charlotte Bossy. 

Coastal Carolina returns to action Thursday at 2 p.m. when the Chanticleers host Campbell from the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
