Women's Tennis Edged at Campbell

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team suffered a close, 4-3 loss at Campbell on Wednesday afternoon.

Coastal (2-3) fell behind early after surrendering the doubles point, and could not overtake Campbell (2-5) in singles.

The Camels secured the doubles point with victories on the first and second courts. The third court was taken by the Coastal duo of Natalie Wall and Rylie Cox, 7-5.

Coastal's singles points came from the second, fourth and fifth courts, while Campbell secured the first, third and sixth.

Sara Bondar won in straight sets on the fourth court, as did Maria Khomchenko on the fifth. Somer Dalla-Bona rallied from a first-set loss in her match to take the second court in three sets.

Only one of Campbell's singles points came in straight sets, as Lou Regen defeated Rylie Cox at No. 3. Iryna Vardanian won her first set on the top court, but fell in the final two. The same occurred with Alexa Tiefel on the sixth court.

The Chants play their next four matches at the Stevens Tennis Complex, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday. The first match against Wofford is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by a 4:30 p.m. match versus North Carolina A&T.
