GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback to UNC Greensboro Saturday afternoon from the UNCG Tennis Courts.
UNCG (1-1) grabbed a 1-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches. Chanticleer junior Miki Bunea evened the score at 1-1 after defeating Alex Whitehead 6-0, 6-2 in her singles match in the No. 2 position.
The Spartans, however, won the next three matches and earned the victory after Stephanie Macfarlane clinched the match for UNCG with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Mikaela Kristofersson at No. 3
Coastal junior Diana Mortlock turned in a victory at No. 5 after downing Lucy Dougherty 6-3, 6-3.
The Chants return to action Feb. 12 when Coastal plays its home opener against Gardner-Webb at 1 p.m. from the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
