Bishop Lands ASUN All-Academic Honors
LakePoint, Ga. - Tahleia Bishop of the Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team was one of 10 student-athletes to be recognized for their academic achievements Thursday as the ASUN Conference announced its 2017 Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team.
The ASUN All-Academic Team was voted upon by the conference's sports information directors.
Bishop, an interdisciplinary studies major with a 4.0 GPA, played the entire season as the Chants' number one seed alongside partner Natasa Savovic. The duo finished the season with a 10-6 record, including wins in each of their last four matches.
Bishop notched victories against the top pairings of all but one ASUN school, and opened the season with a straight-sets win against South Carolina's top pairing when the Gamecocks were ranked 10th in the nation.
Kristin Lind of Stetson, an accounting major with a 3.94 GPA, was named the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the third straight time.
Mercer led all ASUN schools with four student-athletes on the All-Academic Team, followed by Stetson with three and Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville and North Florida with one each.
