CONWAY - Coastal Carolina student-athletes continued their community service efforts with Pee Dee Elementary this week, impacting approximately 200 more students at the Conway school.

The Student-Athletic Advisory Committee created and donated candy pumpkins to Ms. Amber Anderson's first-grade class as part of a Halloween project on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The class was the latest to benefit from SAAC's Chants for Kids program.

In addition, members of the softball and women's basketball teams spent a day at the school mentoring the students and assisting them with reading and math exercises.

The men's and women's track and field teams also held their second Run, Jump and Throw event of the semester. The Pee Dee students were taught how to throw a javelin and a shot put, jump hurdles and run relays.

SAAC has partnered with Pee Dee Elementary since the beginning of the 2011-12 academic year.
