CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina softball team has named Beth Kassuhn, Jessie Winans, Kory Hayden and Kiana Quolas as its four captains for the 2013-14 season, head coach Kelley Green announced Wednesday.

Kassuhn and Winans are fourth-year seniors with the program, while Hayden and Quolas are juniors in their third season. All four have been part of teams that won both a Big South Tournament championship and an outright regular-season title over the last two seasons.

"Programs do not win championships without great leadership," Green said. "I believe these four newly-elected captains will be excellent leaders. They each bring their own style of leadership to the table. I am confident that they will do their best to lead our program in 2014 and help us accomplish our goals."

Kassuhn has played in 105 games and posted a career .970 fielding percentage as an outfielder. Winans has started 168 games, totaling 17 home runs and 64 RBIs and was an All-Big South Tournament selection this past season. Hayden, the 2012 Big South Co-Freshman of the Year, has started all 121 of the team's games in her two years, and ranks third in program history with 30 home runs. Quolas, who has made 118 starts, is the reigning Big South Pitcher of the Year and has posted a career record of 46-21 with a 1.89 ERA, while also contributing 16 home runs and 54 RBIs.
